PET樹脂的玻璃化溫度較高，結晶速度慢，模塑周期長，成型周期長，成型收縮率大，尺寸穩定性差，結晶化的成型呈脆性，耐熱性低等。
通過成核劑以及結晶劑和玻璃纖維增強的改進，PET除了具有PBT的性質外，還有以下的特點：
1． 熱變形溫度和長期使用溫度是熱塑性通用工程塑料中高的；
2． 因為耐熱高，增強PET在250℃的焊錫浴中浸漬10s，幾乎不變形也不變色，特別適合制備錫焊的電子、電器零件；
3． 彎曲強度200MPa，彈性模量達4000MPa，耐蠕變及疲勞性也很好，表面硬度高，機械性能與熱固性塑料相近；
4． 由于生產PET所用乙二醇比生產PBT所用丁二醇的價格幾乎便宜一半，所以PET樹脂和增強PET是工程塑料中價格是低的，具有很高的性價比。
